On January 11th, St. Croix EDC announced the selection of the following companies as recipients of the 2005 business of the year awards in St. Croix County, Wisconsin:

2005 Emerging Business of the Year
(in business for 5 or fewer years)
PressEnter! (River Falls)
2005 Small Business of the Year
(29 or fewer employees)
Gartner Studios (Hudson)
2005 Business of the Year
(30 or more employees)
The companies were honored at an awards banquet on Thursday, February 2, 2006 at the Hudson Golf Club, Hudson, Wisconsin.
The 2005 winners were finalized at the EDC’s board meeting on January 10th after recommendations from the business retention committee were presented to the full board.
UW-River Falls Chancellor Don Betz was the banquet’s
keynote speaker.
SOS Manufacturing is a Roberts-based company that makes specialized wire harnesses for business customers all over the world. The company was organized in 2002 and has grown in size in many different ways. Starting with two employees, SOS now has 11 full-time and five part-time employees. The company’s 4,000 square feet of lease space in Hudson has given way to a new 12,000 square foot facility in the Roberts Business Park. Sales of the wire harnesses have risen dramatically. In an era where much of the harnessing work is done overseas, SOS has a strong reputation for its products and continued growth is anticipated.
